Chris Covais: vibes, drums, composer.

Chris Covais was born on July 10, 1989 on Long Island. He began playing drums at age 3 after hearing the music Herb Alpert, The Baja Marimba Band, Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66, Chris Montez, Chuck Mangione, Dave Brubeck, and Ramsey Lewis. At a very young age, Covais began exploring various jazz artists and records.

He was greatly influenced by Milt Jackson, Joe Morello, Philly Joe Jones, Art Blakey, Dave Brubeck, and The Modern Jazz Quartet. piano lessons came at 14. He also picked up the vibraphone in his teens and continues to live two lives as a drummer and a vibraphonist.

Covais currently leads the Chris Covais Trio with various players, and is also a member of Funkallero.
